An Invitation to join the East Parker MOMS Club

If you are reading this blog, you may be interested in joining our chapter or perhaps you are already a member.  In either case, I want to extend you an invitation to indulge in our style of ‘clubbing’.  Don’t worry – it does not require skimpy outfits, techno music or paying overpriced entry fees!

Our brand of ‘clubbing’ focuses on making connections, on forging a network of support and camaraderie between mothers as well as giving our children the opportunity to form new friendships.

What differentiates our group is the frequency and variety of moms support and children’s activities that we offer – from new mom’s sunshine meals to 2-3 opportunities to meet per week. This encourages close camaraderie among our members and connection to local moms and children in your community. Most of these activities (such as the weekly play groups and field trips) are more child-focused and / or educational in nature while others like our monthly Mom’s Night Out and Book Club are mom-focused, providing the opportunity to connect with each other on an evening when the children can be left with dad or a baby sitter.

Our MOMS Club members come from a range of backgrounds, interests and professions but the one thing we all have in common is the understanding that being a mother is the toughest job there is.  In addition to providing moral support to one another, our member mothers extend a helping hand to one another by providing Sunshine Meals for moms in need, we help local children in the community through our involvement with the Parker Task Force Food Bank, and we meet monthly to have a brunch, talk, and share our collective knowledge on a range of topics.

So if you are a resident of East Parker, Colorado and you are looking for a place where other moms with young children can meet together, learn from each other and most importantly, form meaningful relationships, this may just be the club for you!  We charge a low cost annual due of $25.00 to join.

Summer 2012 Activities

The activities and events described below summarize what our club is doing this summer; however, for dates and locations please enquire about club membership.

Weekly Play Groups

The East Parker MOMS Club Chapter will meet every Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9:30 am – 11:30 am for playgroups through July.  In August, we will be revising the current play group schedule and dividing our members into age-specific play groups for the 2012-2013 school year.  These sessions are either held at the host’s home or at a local park, swimming pool or other public location. The host is asked to provide a light snack and drink for the mothers and children and is responsible for sending out an email invitation to confirm the group’s location to the other group members.

Walking Group

During the summer months, we will meet at local parks to have a short morning walk with our children followed by fun playtime for the kids.  This will be held each week on Thursday morning from 9:30 – 11:30 am. Walking group members are responsible for bringing food and drinks for themselves and their children. Please note, we observe  ‘the 15 minute rule’ which means the group will wait 15 minutes from the time of arrival until they begin the walk, so please be prompt!

Mom’s Night Out!

We plan for at least one (but sometimes more) evening outing for just the moms each month.  Some potential ideas for summer MNO’s include: dinner and drinks, listening to live music, going to the movies, bowling, nature walks / hikes, painting or pottery lessons and more!  Exact dates and locations for MNO’s will be confirmed each month.

Outings for the Entire Family

  • Parker Old Town Wine Walks
  • Mom and Dad’s Night Out
  • Movies in O’Brien Park

Picnic / Lunch outing to Belleview Park in Englewood. This park has a miniature train, a petting zoo, a large playground, picnic grounds and more!  See website: http://www.englewoodgov.org/Index.aspx?page=964

Monthly Meetings

These are part business, part social and are open to ALL club members! Meetings are typically held during the 3rd week of each month (exact dates and times TBC) to allow for time to plan for the following month’s activities.

NEW!!! Summer Book Club

Our summer book club will be starting in July with The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. We will meet to discuss this book sometime in Mid-August along with some great follow up activities!

Summer Movie Express

Starting in Mid-June, the Meadows Stadium 12 in Lone Tree near the Park Meadows Mall will offer children’s movies for $1.00 per person.
